I bring credibility to this topic of basketball in these areas since I have spent all but two years of my life living in what I consider the "Northwoods." My experiences include having won a WIAA State Championship, played three years of college basketball, coached high school basketball for two seasons, coached college basketball for six seasons, and coached AAU basketball for a season. All of this experience has led to me becoming a basketball junkie.
My thoughts may be a little different than other people, but I will give credible opinions. Due to my desire to remain credible, I will not comment on many topics that I have not witnessed firsthand. There will be other links posted throughout the blog, which are provided to help my readers form their own opinions.
It's crucial to identify what I consider Northeastern Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin.
Northeastern Minnesota - Arrowhead, Great River, Iron Range, Lake Superior, Mid-State, Northern Lakes, Northland, and Polar (Big & Small) Conferences will be included. Duluth East, Bemidji, and Lakeview Christian schools will be included since they aren't associated with a conference.
Northern Wisconsin - Big Rivers, Great Northern, Heart O' North, Lake Superior, Lakeland (East & West), Marawood (North & South), Northern Lakes, and Northern Lights Conferences will be included.
Now, it will be impossible for me to watch every team in these regions, but every year will be focused on seeing as many as I can. Getting out to tournaments and summer leagues will help me with this process.
If you see me out at a game, I always enjoy seeing what schools offer the best tasting popcorn!
