Top Ten College Prospects (25-26)

This is based completely on my opinion on what players from the Northwoods have games that translate the best to college basketball. Potential does play a factor into being a "prospect" going into college.

1. Carter Brown (Duluth Denfeld): There is nobody in the area who made as big of a jump from last season to this season. The 2027 wing/forward provides size at 6'6" along with the skill set to play on the perimeter with the ball in his hands. This season he showed that he was capable to play with the ball or without the ball. Averaged 28.1 points and 13.8 rebounds per game as a junior, while shooting 38.8% from three. A jump from 13.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He did a little bit of everything for the Hunters this season and its scary to say, but it seems that there is still a ton of room for growth in his game. I think he has a huge upside.

2. Calvin Anderson (Superior): If it wasn't for an injury during his senior season, Anderson could very easily be my top prospect. He started the season off as one of the most dominant players, while breaking the Superior career scoring record. It seemed like heading into his senior season he had expanded his game and was scoring almost any way possible. There were games this season where he got hot from three right away and it opened up different scoring opportunities. He is really good at using his size to take advantage of mismatches. I would speculate that if he was able to stay healthy that Superior could have made a run at making it to state. Committed to Minnesota-Duluth.

3. Stephen McGee (Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin): The 2026 6'10" forward was dominant on the defensive end for his entire career. He finished his career with 295 career blocks (3.04 blocks per game over his career). McGee found himself getting a lot of attention this season which made it tough for him to get many clean touches. The nice thing with him is that he is capable of stepping out and knocking down shots on the perimeter, which seemed to be some of the only times he had clean looks this season. The crazy part about McGee is that he still has so much potential to work with, that his ceiling is very high heading into college. Committed to Northern Michigan.

4. Ray Brau (Hibbing): Brau solidified himself as a scholarship level player this season. The 6'7" forward finished his junior season with 2012 career points and 1000+ career rebounds. He appears to be on pace to break the Hibbing career scoring record set by Ayden McDonald (2432 points). He garnered a lot of attention from opposing teams this season, and safe to assume that will continue next season. Around the hoop tends to be his safe space to operate, but has proven that he's expanding to be comfortable on the perimeter as well. Averaged 26.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, while shooting 63.2% from the floor and 35.3% from three. I haven't heard of any offers yet, but I'd assume they are on their way if they aren't already offered.

5. Isaiah Asuma (Cherry): One of the best shot making guards in the Northwoods and helped lead his team to a 5th straight state tournament appearance. The 6'0" 2027 guard finished his junior season with 2383 career points, and could potentially pass Isaac Asuma for the all-time leader at Cherry. For a smaller point guard, Isaiah makes some college level moves. That bodes well for him at the college level to find different ways to score with his size, and he's able to get to the hoop. It's nice to see him be an athletic guard and get up for dunks. Was needed to be very active in all aspects of the game for the Tigers to get back to state, and it led to a couple triple-doubles for him this season. Currently holds an offer from Minnesota-Duluth.

6. Trevor Robert (Menomonie): Provides good size standing at 6'7" and able to be a wing/forward. He's another prospect that has potential that is so high. We were able to see some of what he could be during his junior season, but there's still so much room to grow. He did shoot 33.3% from three point range this season. Averaged 18.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Runs the floor very well in transition and moves well without the ball in the half court. Athletic enough to get up and finish with dunks, but has enough touch to be able to finish through contact and in traffic. I haven't heard of any offers yet, but scholarships should be coming soon.

7. Jaxon Boschee (Bemidji): Finished his career as the leading scorer in Bemidji High School history with 2265 points. Provides good size at the guard position with being 6'3" and able to get his shot off over most defenders. He had a couple games this season where he really went off and showed how he was able to hit tough contested shots. Three level scorer and able to create space and get his shots off quickly. Good with the ball in his hands and has a couple of go to moves that he is able to get to his spots with. Committed to Bemidji State.

8. Ethan Marta (Westwood): The Mr. UP award winner during his senior season really carried the Westwood team over the last two seasons. A bigger guard who could potentially play multiple positions at the college level. Scores in a variety of ways. He helped lead the Patriots to a State Semi-Final appearance as a junior. Marta finished his career as the 11th UP player to score over 2000 career points, finishing with 2069 points. Committed to Michigan Tech.

9. Terrance Nolan (Houghton): The lone 2028 player on this list. Put up some very impressive numbers for a sophomore getting his first real varsity run this season. I enjoyed watching him play in a couple of games this season and he was fun to keep track of. Seemed like he could light it up from three at any given moment in a game. He scored 43 points with 10 three pointers against Lake Linden-Hubbell (school record for made three pointers in a game). In the same game he tied a Michigan state record of 7 made three pointers in one quarter. The biggest thing that will determine what level he can end up at is going to be his physical strength. No offers currently, but I've heard plenty of schools who are keeping an eye on his development.

10. Kam Kroll (Northwestern): Kam proved it again this season that he can carry a team. The lefty is a solid player who is capable of getting hot and hitting tough shots. He has a good strong frame that allows him to be a three level scorer. Standing at 6'3" he is able to take advantage of mismatches. Averaged 20.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game, while shooting 33.5% from three. To my knowledge there are no scholarship offers as of now. Based on what I've heard since AAU started up this spring, I would assume as we get into the summer the scholarship interest will pick up.

To be included on this list, you must be in the following graduating classes:
2026, 2027, 2028, 2029
